Blaming the polticians will not solve the problem. There is a need to educate people about the importance of rain harvesting, recycling wash water use it for trees etc and finally true committment from all sections of the society. It's better to nail the problem in its bud stage before it becomes big.

Your observations are accurate . Solutions are many- discussed often , Indian politicians are not interested in solving the issue , otherwise how will they win elections in future what promises will they make to fool the voters ? In INDIA that has been the issue always.

- A rising tariff should be applicable for water consumption . Fix up norms , allocate quota per month , upto which normal tariff will be applicable ,beyond which , there should be a ' say , four fold increase in tariff which will deter people from wastage .
- I have seen cars being washed at homes , consuming about 400 litres of water per wash . Now adays , water less car washing has been introduced by some cos. in India . Car dealers should be forced to adopt waterless washing at their service centres .
