Wow … the earthenware. Living amidst of concrete jungle with metals, plastics etc, which are hazardous to the environment, looking at the earthenware I am reminded of nature, its beauty, its creation, products, made from nature, which is environment friendly. As I was relishing my times which I spent amidst of nature, I was struck with an idea. Yeah that’s it, I penned it down.
Accelerating my neural networks to blend the raising concerns for environment, earthenware, tourist, I came up with the concept of a Resort. How different can it be? What difference can it make to people making earthenware, tourist, society, and nation? Here is the difference that my idea of Resort can make. A Resort built by identifying a region which is close to nature as well as close to the earthenware makers. Construction of resort will be made with eco-friendly materials. The wares used inside the Resort will be earthenware. This would give insight to the tourist who visit the resort the significance of the earthenware, instill an eco-friendly attitude in them.
Am I missing something, yes, the earthenware makers. Can I add value to them in my resort beyond just using the wares inside the Resort? Yes I can, I will integrate them in my business model, open up a showroom exclusively for earthenware. This will give them a stable and consistent living and also provide opportunity for tourist to buy these products for their home.

We Can also give next pava advertisement through media about this terracotta product and how to use the and benefit of this Products, and where these terracotta products are available in the market. In Chennai there is a coffee shop named MOCCA AND AMETHYST the coffee shop is like ancient times only, this is an excellent example from this we can find how much people like of using ancient products.

The Image: Earthenware of myriad dimensions, shapes and utilities, mostly home furnishing on display
The Idea: Customised Earthenware Solutions
Details:
It is clear from the photograph that earthenware can be sculpted in innumerable sizes, shapes and to accomplish various utilities like wall fixtures, lighting shades, flower pots and vases or simply for landscaping. The idea therfore is to customise the business to catapult the turnover and style-status of this product to a totally different degree.
People could walk in with any design, sketch, photograph or sample of any product or piece of art. Artisans would be present to understand the exact requirement, take the order and would immediately set to work in producing the article. The customer may leave immediately or else enjoy to see the finishing touches to the article. The item could be door delivered to the customer after painting and baking(if required) the next day.
Profits:
Difference between the wages of 4-6 artisans per day and the premium charges for the customised art-work.
Win-Win-Win:
Customer: Gets a customised art-piece to accomodate in his/her home in choice of colour, size, shape
Artisans: Secured work 30 days a month, No capital committment, No unsold stock or damaged stock to deal with.
Entrepreneur: Profits and satisfaction of social entrepreneurship

The Terracotta is a Natural and modern art form of Indian culture where decorative and designer pots and vases are made, these are eco-friendly and do not pollute the environment. This could provide a steady means of livelihood for many people in the rural that are artistically skilled and they could earn a decent living. The business enterprise could provide a way to create employment for the artists and they could in turn create these art forms which could then be branded and marketed via Retail outlets for the consumers in the cities and also for export to other countries.
This could also be catalogued and hosted online with a shopping cart feature to order online and the logistics could take care of delivering this to any part of the world. In turn this could also be a fantastic opportunity for an Art Tourism where the travelers/visitors could be taken on a guided tour of the facility in the villages and towns where the art studios are located were the artists make the pots, vases and other art forms.
So in summary it is a wonderful opportunity for employment, online shopping and eco-tourism.

Multi-stream Business Opportunities arising literally from the womb of our Mother Earth. Hence the products are Natural, eco-friendly, pollution-free, chemicals and contaminants-free, bio-degradable, economical, harmless, and user-friendly.
Cookware and Domestic: Earthen-ware pots, pans, frying and cooking ware like idly-stands, Paniyaram-stands, Puttu-stands, steaming-pots, basins, casseroles, jugs, mugs, jars, ladles, stirring handles, Cooking ovens, hearths, Disposables like curd/yoghurt pots, Mutka pots for tea and coffee and Lassi, serving dishes for sweets, payasams, badamkeer, firnis, Rasmalai etc.in Weddings and at home functions. Water cooler jars (very famous porous water jars from Delhi which will cool water to very low temperatures popular during the forties and fifties and carried by train and air travellors from Delhi like the later date Nutan Stoves).
Musical items Like Ghatams. Try to innovate Musical-Chimes and music pillars and xylophones.
Pooja items like divas, pooja lamps, lampstands, Kuthu-vilakku, bells, pots and pooja utensils, Thulsi stands and pots, incense stick stands, candle stands, incense burners.
Art & Artifacts: Lamps, Table lamps, lamp shades. portico lamps, decorative hangings, decorative pots, vases, statues, statuettes, horse, elephants, cows, lions and tigers, and other figures and figurines, wall hangings, bass-reliefs, table-top items like stands, toys, busts, etc,
Try to innovate on Photoframes, Wall-clock frames, and other utility item covers and frames, gift boxes, jewelery boxes decorated with stones, beads, glass inserts and with inlay and embedded work, and other fancy articles.
Industrial Items: In the early 30's and 40's we had a lot of decorated and plain Floor and Wall tiles as also the popular Roof tiles both inner and outer and the Terrace Tiles. These kept our ancestral homes cool in Summer and warm in Winter. We can get back to these lower cost, low-power consuming building materials which will also make our buildings green and smart.
We can try to innovate on wire-reinforced &/or composite material using the base earth soil for lighter duty building materials like grills and Jallies, earthen ware outer covers for Radios, stereos, clocks, computer monitors, Table tops, kitchen tops, baby chairs, baby-comodes (toilets) fancy decorative and utility items around the house.
Also various retorts and chambers used in SMBs (and also homes) can be manufactured with the new composites and nano materials with the base earthenware after detailed prototyping and trials. A lot of innovation and experimentation has to be started immediately in these areas.
In fact there is no end to the items that one can think off. All these products can be marketed both in India and all over the World as the world starts to look at going green and returning to Mother Nature. This is the ght Time to cash-in on this big Business opportunity, which will also give employment to our large rural population. All the SHGs and NGOs can look at innovating and Marketing tie ups with MNCs and organisations abroad.

It is an ideal location for the chess den of the maestro Gary Karpov. The expansive lawns provide an ideal space and view for the live size chess board and the mud pieces can be moulded and made into chess pieces. Electric Rollers shall be placed on the chess board to enable the pieces to move, and that too by remote control. What fun to play LIVE CHESS, KING SIZE!

“CLAY WORLD” giving shape to your dreams..
Business Idea:
Following the main theme of the picture shown in the magazine, the business idea proposed here emphasizes on commercializing the various products made from clay and their further applications for interior decoration of homes, offices, hotels, banquet halls and other locations. Novelty and innovation involved:
Targeting middle class section of society for use of clay products for interior decoration of their homes as they cannot afford expensive domestic and imported items.
Hotels and restaurants could prove to be a potential buyer of clay products for decoration of dining halls, pubs and roof tops.
Contract system for seasonal weddings and functions which demand temporary decoration for few days or weeks.
Collaboration with hand-made product making companies like archies, hallmark etc. for modification expansion of range of clay models. Electronic giants can help by integrating their technology for making designer equipments like clay lamps, clay toys etc. SHG’s(self help groups) and NGO’s could play a major role as work force.
Foreign markets could prove to be potential buyers as demand for such products is increasing tremendously in European countries.

Taking a cue from the visual, I have tried to incorporate some elements from it into crafting a business plan. And since the brief mentioned something about being crazy, I had some fun as well in the process!
Disclaimer: This project is entirely a work of fiction. Any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental and any resemblance to actual names/logos/symbols etc is totally purposeful, all in the name of craziness!
Links to the picture:
1.] A plethora of earthenware in varied shapes, forms and designs – Inspiration for a “personalized pottery” concept.
2.] Sprawling Villa overlooking a lush green courtyard – Inspiration for a creative retreat.
3.] The picture of an unmistakable Indian man with a beard and moustache – Inspiration for the concept behind the fictitious entrepreneur - Hari (Unmistakable Indian name!) Potter!
Business Plan and Concept: (Kindly refer to the advertisement specially designed for this plan by clicking on “Sudhyasheel Sen.”)
The lifestyle & wellness brand “Hari Potter” [better known as HP – Pottery is personal again], offers exclusive design, training, consulting and manufacturing services in customized earthenware. Peace, inspiration and rejuvenation come as an added bonus with the package. In today’s “Me too” world where life in the fast lane is turning humans into soulless machines , Hari Potter promises a tranquil getaway to rediscover one’s creativity .
Marketing Mix:
Product:
1.)Customized pottery designed by the client (wholly or in consultation with the craftsmen) and made by traditional expert potters who have been practicing this art since generations.
2.)A peaceful retreat far from madding crowd and a complete inspiring experience. ( The package includes travel two way arrangements from the venue to the nearest city, i.e., Kolkata ; food and lodging arrangements at the venue ; a workshop with the craftsmen ; a brief tour to a couple of neighboring villages where this art form is being practiced since ages ; visit to the local cooperative society for further fun and shopping.)
People:
Hari Potter, the brand, draws its name from it's founder Hari, an award winning master potter who is a fierce advocate of this dying art from. The other craftsmen working on this project are extremely skilled artisans from neighboring villages. This project is endorsed and run by the Handicraft and Handloom Export Corporation of India under the SGSY [Swarnjayanti Gram Swarozgar Yojana] scheme. It aims to bring financial assistance to poor families (Swarozgaries) above the Poverty Line by ensuring appreciable sustained level of income over a period of time.
Target Market: The burgeoning upper middle class caught in the frenzied pace of city life and desperately seeking a peaceful getaway. Tired souls with a touch of creativity that crave to stand out from the crowd!

Inventory and warehousing will be done in a segment inside the Clay Court and finally the distribution will happen from this place itself at the end of the trip.

Taking some wild guess from the picture, I assume the venue to be some down town farmhouse with greenery around. Had I been the owner of this place this would be my business idea:
Theme: A do it yourself boutique, where you can unleash your creative side and make all the stuffs to decorate your home, office etc. and let the message of Green Living spread.
Rationale: People love to show off things created by them. However in a conventional designer shop, one can only pick and choose from the item already present or at best place an order. Why not change this stereotype and crate a design shop where people can come, pick up various raw materials and create items with the help of trained helpers and then take it back home. So we are not only setting individual imagination free, but also each of the merchandise is one of its own and there is no need to carry large inventory of finished goods.
Target Segment: Educated, upwardly mobile families in the middle to upper middle class segment. New Home makers; especially young educated women who wants to eke out an identity of her own in the new world.
Business process: Customers will come and buy the raw materials; clay, bamboo, dried leaves, jute sheet etc. They can try their hands on the making process like running a potter wheel or carpentry etc. The place would have facilities like oven, carpentry workshop etc managed by trained staff. Customers are supposed to spend much time in the boutique, so while one partner is enjoying the bliss of her/his creativity, the other partner can try her/his hand on something else. This will ensure more THROUGH PUT per customer. At the end of the day, depending on the product, it will be either packed or delivered then and there or at a later date.
Products: The list is endless, to begin with, terracotta items, bamboo furniture, cutlery, soft furnishing items like jute curtains, dried leaves chick, candles etc etc.
Further up scaling: Eco clothing can be added and a user designed brand can be created. Also the venue can be used by large corporate as employee motivation, tam building and de-stressing facility.

Earthen wares in the picture inspire varied dimensions - interior decoration, restaurants, ethnic wear, festivity, herbal remedies and cosmetics, tourism and artifacts to name just a few. And since no single pursuit among these would do justice to their beauty, all of them can be pursued though making a theme website and modeling each of the idea with these earthen wares. The revenues will come from the relevant advertisements at the site.

Imagine if you could create a designer earthen pot while on a rejuvenating stay at our resort. An ideal weekend getaway in our state of the art "Earthen Owen resort"!
Participate in a learn and sell earthenware while relaxing with our various mud therapies for your stress.
The following is the three day program:
1) Day one - welcome and introduction. You also get a free mud thearpy on day one.
2) Day two - hands on - let your creativity go!! Brief introduction on "how to" by experts and help to create your own designer earth-ware
3) Day three – Earth-ware Mela (the image) the entire group's work will be showcased in an exhibition cum sale. The proceedings after the sale will go to the underprivileged people.
My ideas as almost described is to set up a resort which basically be on learn-create-sell mode. You get to de-stress with a sense of learning and achievement. The image depicts some of the works of our students (participants/visitors) in one of our Earth-ware Mela.
Basically we have nature tourism, adventure tourism and other stuffs similar. My Idea is to bring in a new concept called Earthen Tourism.

These pots can be used for giving a new look to the home. The small pots having gapings in them can be used as lamps which could prove to give a new look to a particular area. Some of these can be used as utensils like the big ones can be used to store water as it is a great problem arising now-a-days n these pots can store water for around 3-4 days required that they must be used n it will clean the water and will keep it cool.As unemployment is also a problem so this will give employment to rural and will be a good way of earning money. These can widely be used for interior decoration which gives a cooling effect to the area where they are kept.so the best use can be for interior as it is in great trend now-a-days.

These terracotta pots of all shapes and sizes would be sold as alternate dustbins. Using these terracotta dustbins, people can convert their household waste into rich manure which can then be used in personal gardens. Small ones shown in the picture are for households, whereas the bigger ones are for restaurants, etc. We would also provide a common platform to the people using these terrracotta dustbins to come and sell their extra manure to farmers and other people who require it.So, our customers can start monetizing their waste.
Business plan details:
1. We sell these terracotta dustbins.
2. Customers use them for converting their household waste to manure.
3. Customers come and sell the extra manure present with them on a common platform (provided by us)for buyer and sellers of manure.
Revenue Streams:
1. Revenue from selling the terracotta pots.
2. 1% commission from the sale of manure by customers on our platform.
Social Advantage:
1. Greener way of disposing waste.
2. Terracotta pots would be made by people from cottage industries. This program would aim for the uplifment of these people.

The Restaurant BC
Idea:
* A restaurant which will use only these mud utensils.
* Even the building is being modified to give better look to match with these.
* And the vegetables will be grown infront and around the building. The work has started as in the picture. So people can pluck the vegetables themselves and give for cooking.
* There will be fish tank in mud, so people can choose which fish they need also. which applies to prawns and crab also.
* Even all the workers serving the food will wear cotton dress.
Advantages for people:
* Complete stress relief.
* Even city people will be able to see how the plants are being grown.
* Different environment
Side business of this restaurant:
* Selling the mud decorative items.
* selling plants [For example, the plants not only flowers but also vegetables.]
These side business will be great success because
* decorative items selling : people will see how they can use a decorative item [ie in the restaurant we would have use the mud decorative items]
* Selling plants: They would have seen the plants with vegetable around the restaurant, so they will be interested in that also

Taking a realistic view on this, lets say i am running a business of making earthen pots, here is how i would design my business model
Target market : no sense in targeting foreign markets, because if the product is projected as utensils or decorative items, shipping cost will not be justified and given the nature of fragileness, i dont think any insurance company will provide shipping insurance and as a foreigner visiting India, carrying a earthen pot on lap doesnt make my journey any more comfortable,
what are the characteristics of this product
1) It keeps water cool when used as a utensil
2) Can serve as a decorative in living room
3) Can be used for planting small tree's
4) It is very fragile
5) Production cost are low
6) Shipping and handling costs are high comparatively
so what does that tell us about target market(s)
1) Go local
2) Choose to market this product as utensil in regions urban/rural where there are frequent power cuts and the temperature is high
3) Choose to market this product as decorative item in urban areas where the affluent embark eg: Shopping malls, multiplexes
4) Choose to market this product by partnering with business selling samplings/seeds for small plants
to solve the problems of #4 and #6, i would move the production close to the location of sale and thus minimizing the effect of fragileness and reduced shipping and handling costs.

In my perspective their are 3 things we can get from this photo.
1. These mud utencils (decorative in nature)
2. A very small park (can be used for small gathering and exhibition)
3. A big house that can be used for organising big exhibitions
My business idea would be primarily focussing on business through exhibitions. The variation may exist depending upon how big or small we want it during the phase of time. We can simply put these decorative mud pots and utencils on exhibition. We can easily put these exhibition inside the house or we may put it in this small park. If we put this exhibition inside the big house what we can add is the pot-makers in the park. In case we put it in the park, we can still provide space to the pot-makers. These POT-MAKERS would make decorative pieces on the consumer demand and how they want it, on the spot. ( Social Entship you see) Also since we promote pot makers we can easily get a BIG celibrity to be BRAND AMBASSADOR of this whole yearly exhibitions. Our USP would be the kind of goods we deliver to the society.
A small idea directly from this pic.

There is a growing awareness among the educated, urban folks about potteries, earthenware. Water stored in these pots remain cool, food cooked in these utensils retain a special aroma. But the interested people are not able to patronize such small scale businesses due to economic and supply chain issues. Interested buyers have no reliable place to purchase these items.
Idea:
It will be a great idea for someone to build an online marketplace which the craftsmen can use across the country to sell these wares. This will enable the craftsmen to cut the middle man and enable the interested buyers to buy it from a reliable source online.

This seems to me like a good opportunity to bring rural artisanry and craftsmanship to mainstream. A good NGO should tie up with the craftsmen to produce all kinds of earthenware for all kinds of needs. This should then be "glamourised" by tying up with celebrities to give their inputs and design ideas and there will also be options to "adopt" an artisan or an entire range if they so wish and to have rotating membership to allow new celebrity members to come and old ones to take a break if and whenever they wish. The business model - Artisans will get another avenue to sell their work. Celebrities need to
show they are humane and give back to the society and this they can achieve by tying up with this project. The project will get free marketing and publicity by virtue of tying up with celebrities. There will be hordes of people who would be wanting to buy this stuff as its kept in the homes and offices of their very own celebrities who they love and adore. This has even greater market abroad as this can be done on a large scale by tying up with international organisations working in India (they have international celebrities coming up on project basis or country basis). Also this can be a novel way to induce greater awareness on eco-friendly options.

Birthday Party Activity:
The lawn can be a birthday party venue for a group of 20 - 30 kids. Age group 6 - 12 years. Duration: 4 - 5 hours. We could have a few potter's wheels in the lawn. Children can make pots any shape/size. Great outdoor activity, less pressure on parents to engage 20 plus screaming kids, lawn or the hall inside on hire complete with refreshments etc.
Smaller pots shown in picture can be used as return gifts:))

One stop mud made eco friendly solution for all house hold and decoration needs. Keep the production and supply chain with you but do a revenue sharing arrangements with big grossery chains in different countries like wall mart/reliance retail etc for creating a global marketing network with big branding. It's a billion dollar business globally without an argument.
Today's highly paid jobs give quick money and fame. People are moving away from villages and nature for money sake. Man made things make them sick over time. After a certain age, people want to get back home (May not be physically but would want to attach themselves with nature). These mud made items not only keep them closure to nature but help them to remain heathly by ensuring steel/aluminium cooking wares and show pieces out of home.

Today everyone is moving away from our own culture and moving towards west. But we can bring in our people to our own culture by using above shown utensils. Following things can be done with above earthern pots:
1. Sell them for decoration purpose.
2. Huge foreign market available who are really interested in Indian made cultural art work.
3. Sell them for household use as utensils e.g., water kept in these pots remain cool and fresh, a unique aroma is added to food cooked in it.
4. Make an exhibition of these utensils.
Why people buy these?
1. Less costly
2. Make them close to nature
3. Pure and fresh health.
4. For decorating their houses in order to give ethnic look.
5. Foreigners don't mind paying for these as they have huge interest in another culture's art.
6. Harmless as compared to plastic materials and other pots.

This will feature all earthernware with exquisite designs for decorating homes. Also food cooked in earthernware has specific medicinal benefits. Tasty food is also a factor from cooking in earthernware. Water kept in earthernware utensil is cold enough. A good foreign market available for it. Moreover, a time when plastics are degrading the environment, this "Return to Earthature" feature will be appreciated by one and all. Where the flourine gas might pollute the atmosphere and add in to global warming, "Return to Earthature" will work. Least expensive and a chance for getting new kitchenware too.

But they are not in reachable distance, The eco-friendly pots made of clay usually lies in showcases of urban houses.
This business idea aims at transferring these ancient eco-friendly arts from showcases to daily usage, thereby enabling employment to rural people, creating new market, preserving the tradition, going green and making a revolution.

Reflecting a new commitment to enhanced accessibility for all, fine art Museum store - ideal building in the background; offering visitors the opportunity to explore the Museum’s special exhibitions and collections from various forms of art and from varied artists.
An area where private sector can make significant contribution as a new form of business. This makes art affordable to one and all. A place where one can enjoy multifaceted programs as film screenings, musical performances, and drop-in activities. WOW ! Google idea in art!!!!
As one of the greatest but perhaps less known art collections in the nation today like terra cotta works, can get an exceptional opportunity to revive to make it an essential part of the lives of everyone. A display and sale cost nothing to the artisan or the group, if the museum's avenues and courtyards are used as displayed in the pix.
An equally essential element of any visit to a street would such exquisite attractive building like one the picture and the art walk luring to make "the lost arts" a way of life again while making it affordable during these days of recession.

Convert Waste to Wealth. Every material has some hidden value [use]. If the value [use] is identified it becomes wealth - if not it remains a waste.

Making earthen ware goods and providing employment to rural people...re-branding earthen ware products by projecting it as the new 'coolest' thing in the utensils and decoration segment.Advertisement would say something like 'Steel is passe, earth is in'.

I think of the creativity involved with the pottery and the mud craft. A seilent business opportunity lying behind it, and the possibility of converting mud to money. Nice picture of great possibilities.

A deemed Univeristy for Fine arts. The Courses available would be Pottery, Painting, Clay Modelling and Sculpture. The material developed and made by students in the process of learning would be made available for sale at domestic level plus an attempt to export the same to facilitate funding. An extra cell where tips for exporting with all the foreign trade documentation would also be taught.

These are soil made and fully eco friendly items, does not harm to childerns also like plastic items. There should be an excluive showroom for these items so that these can sold to market directly and an awareness should be created to use them as decorative items and house hold items also.
Thanks
