MindTree was co-founded in 1999 by Ashok Soota, along with nine other industry professionals. Under Soota’s leadership, MindTree has become a global entity with revenue of USD 300 million, over 9,000 people and offices in multiple cities in the US, Europe and Asia. Soota is an industry leader. He was the President of Confederation of Indian Industry, India’s largest industry association and President of Manufacturers’ Association of Information Technology. For his contributions to Indian’s IT Industry, he has been recognised twice as IT Man of the Year and as Electronics Man of the Year. He is a recipient of the Prof S. N Mitra Award from Indian National Academy of Engineering and the Golden Peacock Award for Technology Leadership. Soota has also been a member of the global board of trustees of The Indus Entrepreneurs .
MindTree has won several awards such as the National Award for Excellence in Corporate Governance in India in 2007-08. It is also the first Indian company to receive the Texas Instruments 2008 Supplier Excellence Award. It is ranked 19th among IT services companies by IAOP in its annual list of the Top 100 Global Outsourcing Companies and was ranked No. 1 among the Most Admired Knowledge Enterprise (MAKE) India Award winners for the second consecutive year in 2008.
Having taken Mintree to an altitudinal height, Soota has recently quit the organisation in quest of newer challenges. He plans to start something new, from the scratch and reach newer heights yet again.
