When DARE spoke to Preeti S. Kumar and Sanjeev in 2008, they had just about launched Scooby Scrub. Now, they’ve turned their pet passion into an impressive enterprise. We decided to drop by and say a quick Woof!

THEN: On a sweltering summer day in Delhi, Sanjeev stepped out for a lunch break. On the way back to his office, he entered a pet shop to pick up stuff for his pets. That’s when the idea entered his mind, and he yelled Eureka! Three months later, he and his wife Preeti rolled out Scooby Scrub and Pet Bytes. Scooby Scrub — the pet grooming salon and Pet Bytes — the pet food and accessories chain.

NOW: Sanjeev and Preeti run five self-owned and three franchises of Scooby Scrub salons across the country with an annual turnover of around
Rs 8 lakh.
ABOUT SANJEEV & PREETI: Preeti — an Arts graduate (1997), did her MA, B.ED (2005), started her career as a teacher at Holy Child School (2002-2007). Sanjeev — an MBA (2004), was Manager at HDFC bank (2005-2007). For both, the world now revolves around their pooches.
SMARTEST MOVE: Scooby Weekends is a Sunday outing program designed for pets with their families. The four-legged companions are taken to parks every Sunday — a strategy that made all the difference for Preeti and Sanjeev.
