India is home to the largest number of differently-abled people in the world. Invention Labs is working on manufacturing low-cost products that would help improve the quality of life of these people. Started by alumni of IIT-Madras, Invention Labs has developed AVAZ, a low-cost hand-held device that helps people with cerebral palsy communicate and express their needs, much like the one made famous by Stephen Hawking. The device is fairly affordable at Rs 30,000. The innovators have filed for a patent for their innovation.
