The amount of toll collected on the National Highways in 2008-09 has increased by 36.8% as compared to the toll collected in 2007-08.The government has collected Rs. 261342.26 lakhs in 2008-09 as against Rs 191076.83 lakhs in 2007-08. The amount of toll collected in 2009-10 (upto May 09) is to the tune of Rs. 51147.22 lakhs. The toll collection was highest in Rajasthan (Rs 42568.58 lakhs in 2008-09 and Rs 9649.96 lakhs in 2009-10 (upto May 09), followed by Andhra Pradesh (Rs. 37,916.30 lakhs in 2008-09 and Rs.8574.25 lakhs in 2009-10 (upto May 09)) and Haryana (Rs.35131.11 in 2008-09).
7560.50 KM of National Highways have been fully completed and are under tolling. However, 3476.31 KM length of National Highways has been completed partially in stretches and hence are not under tolling. Completion of tollable section in all respects including safety measures like lane marking, signages, guard rails etc is a pre-requisite for commencement of tolling within 30 days from the date of completion of tollable section or issue of takeover certificates, whichever is later.
