Second Edition of Bangalore Nano to benefit researchers and entrepreneurs in Nanotechnology

A platform to showcase technology and meet investors

The Department of IT, BT and Science & Technology, Govt. of Karnataka and JNCASR (Jawaharlal Nehru Center for Advanced Scientific Research) and MM Activ Sci-Tech Communications announced that the stage is set for the 2nd Bangalore Nano 2008 event to be held at Bangalore. The technical sessions have been scheduled for the 11th and 12th December 2008 and the Inaugural and Proclamation of Bangalore Nano Declaration and Presentation of 2nd Bangalore Nano National Award will be held on the December 13, 2008 at the same venue. Shri. Mohammad Hamid Ansari, Hon'ble Vice President of India will be the chief guest and give away the Bangalore Nano National Award in august presence of Shri Rameshwar Thakur, H.E. The Governor of Karnataka, Shri. V S Acharya, Home Minister, Govt. of Karnataka, Prof C N R Rao, Chairman Science Advisory Council to the Prime Minister and Shri Anand Vasant Asnotikar, Minister for S&T and Fisheries, Govt. of Karnataka.
 
After the notable success of Bangalore Nano 2007, the first major event of its kind in India, the 2nd edition of Bangalore Nano will offer a clear vision of the Nanotechnology Research, Applications and Potential through an International Conference, Exhibition, Children's program - "Nano for the Young", RICH and YESSS programs.
 
Exhibitors include Toshniwal Brothers, Future Techno Design, Nanoshel, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and NT-MDT is from Russia. Karnataka Science And Technology Academy, Karnataka State Electronics Development Corporation Ltd, Karnataka Biotechnology and Information Technology Services and Karnataka Remote Sensing Application Centre are also participating in the event.
 
The opening plenary session on December 11, 2008 will be addressed by Professor C N R Rao, Linus Pauling Research Professor, Honorary President, Jawaharlal Nehru Centre for Advanced Scientific Research, Chairman of the Science Advisory Committee to the Prime Minister of India. Highlight lectures and scientific presentations will be delivered by renowned nanotech experts like Prof. Pulickel M. Ajayan, Rice University, Prof. Dipankar Chakravorty, Indian Association for The Cultivation of Science, Prof. Dhirendra Bahadur, IIT Bombay, Mr. Jaideep Raje, Lux Research Inc, Prof. Nikhil A. Koratkar, Rensselear Polytechnic Institute, Dr. Arthur J Carty, University of Waterloo, Dr. Ajay Godara, NANOCYL SA, Dr. Ajit Sapre, Reliance Industries, etc.
 
YESSS & RICH will be a highlight of the 2nd edition of Bangalore Nano 2008. The YESSS & RICH programs are being done in association with Indian Venture Capital Association (IVCA). This will also be the second edition of Research Industry Collaboration Hub (RICH) - a platform to showcase innovative and novel research ideas to seek partnership and commercialization opportunities to investor and industry professionals. RICH brings together researchers in the filed of nanotechnology face-to-face with the industry as well as investors. Several IVCA members, independent VCs & investment firms will be attending the program.
 
There's significant research work being carried out in the field of nanotechnology at the laboratory level in various leading academic institutions as well as small and medium enterprises. In the RICH program, these ideas can be presented, with the objective of exploring further possibilities of investments, collaborations and partnerships to take these ideas from Lab to Market. The YESSS program (Young Entrepreneurs Startups in Soaring Spirits) - encourages budding entrepreneurs with business ideas to meet industry professionals & VCs face-to-face for business interactions. Start ups & incubating companies can present their business plans to scale up their operations by forging alliances with people who see value in the same. Both the programs are aimed at giving fillip to nanotech based industry in India.
