The Government is implementing various schemes/programs in the area of credit, technology, skill development & marketing, for the development and promotion of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME) and to enhance their competitiveness. The major schemes/programs include the National Manufacturing Competitiveness Program, Credit Guarantee Scheme, Credit Linked Capital Subsidy Scheme, Performance and Credit Rating Scheme, Cluster Development Program, Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program, Market Development Assistance Scheme and Entrepreneurship & Skill Development Program. These measures have helped the sector achieve an average annual growth rate of 10.8% over the period 2001-02 to 2006-07.
