The Gujarat government will increase the number of compressed natural gas (CNG) stations in the state to 300 from the present 120 as part of its initiatives to promote clean fuel, according to Minister of State for Energy and Petrochemicals.
Speaking at the concluding day of the 'Oil and Gas Conservation Fortnight' (OGCF-2009) campaign, Patel said: 'Eco-friendliness of natural gas is beyond doubt. As the demand is increasing, the number of CNG stations in the state would be increased to 300 to fight global warming.'
The OGCF, a nationwide campaign jointly carried out by the state-run Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA) and public sector oil companies for promoting fuel efficiency in the country.

Its really very eco friendly gas fuel for automobiles industry. First CNG station of India was started in 1992 at Surat. Its been 10 years to bring from Surat to Rajkot. Very Slow Progress !!. We are always talking about pollution/Global Warming to save planet. But Petrol price is going high and high like Balloon.
To walk with the cost, people have to change their fuel method from petrol to CNG which starts from Rs. 20 per kg. Now price is Rs.36 Per KG within 10 years of difference. CNG is cost effective compared to alternate fuels such as petrol, diesel, Auto LPG, etc then why government is not taking initiative to promote CNG in all over the countries.
There is very slow progress of CNG station while looking at Saurashtra Region compare to Gujarat Zone. Govt should expand the double figure of CNG station within 2 years for Gujarat state. Price must be taken down as demand is growing. Online CNG pump should be increased compare to off line station. People have to wait a long to fill CNG in their vehicles while same time can be used in some other productive work. Though people have started converting their vehicles into CNG mode. While compare to quantity of CNG vehicles, a very less few station is available in Saurashtra Zone.
People of Saurashtra are not happy with current scenario of CNG pump station. Govt must provide solutions for this burning issue. Govt must provide emerging need of future development while considering cost of saving, Global Warming and all other relative issues.
People will always appreciate and welcome the supports of any issue which is indirectly or directly in the favor of public benefits. We wish to have quick solutions for this matter.
