CII & A4e sign a MoU to develop scalable implementation models in Vocational Training.

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) and A4e Ltd; UK based provider of welfare to work services signed a MOU for collaboration to develop & implement innovative models in the area of skills training and quality assurance in India. They shall work jointly for creating a road map for skills in India utilising CII's expertise in the skills space and A4e's experience of working in international markets. Through this partnership they will also review and undertake large scale, employer led, government supported skills training program and share best practices. Together they shall focus on benefitting the rural - urban youth by offering globally benchmarked and localised skills training.

Indrani Kar, Senior Director, CII said that, "this partnership shall open newer opportunities and facilitate sharing of best practices. India today needs collaborative efforts for addressing the voluminous skills issues". CII is a leader in initiatives for integrated and inclusive development including education, livelihood and skill development and intends to work with partners acting as a fulcrum of change.

A4e's international portfolio includes welfare to work services; skills and workforce development programs; enterprise support; vocational and educational services; and funding distribution and supply chain development services for government agencies and departments in 11 countries.

Roy Newey, Group Board Director, A4e reiterated A4e's commitment towards creating a skilled India by working with the most marginalised and offering them skills for life. In India they are working to pilot the Prime Contracting model with the Ministry of Rural Development.

The partnership comes at a time when India is on the threshold of a revolution in the area of skills development. The CII - A4e shall together offer the much needed global expertise while keeping intact the diversity and peculiarities of the Indian market.
