The Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) and Automobile Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) has come together to organize the first ever international exhibition and conference on Bus & Special Vehicles at the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) in Bangalore from March 11th - 14th, 2009.
The exhibition showcases latest products and technologies in various categories of buses, special vehicles including ambulances and component and accessories for this specific sector of the automotive industry. The key manufacturers of bus and special vehicles such as Tata Motors, Ashok Leyland, Mercedes, Volvo, Swaraj Mazda, etc along with a number of component manufacturers like Bosch, Allison Transmission, Auto Meters, Pioneer Friction put their respective products on display at the expo.
Tata Motors is displaying five of its vehicles including the fourteen seater executive career Winger and a thirty 'plus one seater' school bus equipped with all modern safety tools. Swaraj Mazda's 'twelve-plus-one' seater Executive, 27-seater Isuzu Bus and a new Swaraj Mini Executive bus are also at the display. Amongst other manufacturers, Mercedes is displaying their maiden premium inter-city bus. Volvo is displaying two of its high capacity buses as well as Ashok Leyland which has put their 45-seater long distance bus at the expo.
The expo was formally inaugurated on 12th March 2009 by Mr. Sudhir Mehta, Chairman, SIAM Trade Fairs Group & Director, Force Motors and Mr. Subir Hari Singh IAS, Principal Secretary, Commerce & Industries Dept, Govt of Karnataka.
It is expected to register a significant footfall with special interest from representatives of Domestic Airports, State Road Transport Corporations, Home Ministry, State Governments, Ministry of Defence, Police Departments, Department of Fire & Safety, Hospitals and Business Houses in the coming days.
