The Fabmall guys are back. VS Sudhakar and his team that built Fabmall, India's first (almost) ecommerce site, is back with bigbasket.com.
The mailer announcing the launch of bigbasket says:
We are thrilled to announce the launch of bigbasket.com, Bangalore’s first comprehensive online grocery store. Walk away from the drudgery of grocery shopping every month and welcome an easy, relaxed way of shopping for groceries at your time and at your place.
It is learnt that the team has managed to get TutorVista's K Ganesh into the promoter team. Ganesh is hailed to be a great negotiator. The team is said to be in the hunt for a Series A fuding.
Interestingly, the new venture has picked up cash-on-delivery strategy which is working quite well for Flipkart.
Bigbasket comes in over 12 years after Fabmall's launch which went through various models before settling down as indiaplaza.com and a physical store chain of More.
