More and more personalized content for all the users is what Yahoo under CEO Carol Bartz is currently aiming at.
Speaking at the Day-2 keynote of NASSCOM Product Conclave, Carol Bartz stated that Yahoo's dream is to build personalized web experience for all its 600 million users.
“We aim to become the world's largest digital media company,” she said, adding, “We are looking at increasing more local content, expanding the local languages from 6 to probably 18 languages.”
Talking about partnership and collaboration, Bartz said, “Partnerships are like marriage and dating, you have to work it out. Every company has a good idea and one should always partner for idea, content and technology.”
She cautioned that there is always a risk factor in partnership but the companies should look at it. “You have to take some risk, grow and expand. You will never understand what makes sense, until you try. But one should never bully the partners.”
She added, that protectionism in business leads to constraint and hampers growth.
She complimented Yahoo India Development Center for its efforts saying that around 20 products of Yahoo and around one third of IPs have come from the India Center.
Earlier, during his welcome speech, Harsh Manglik, chairman, NASSCOM, and chairman & geography managing director of Accenture (India), said India should look at the bright future.
“The industry has grown from $4 billion (a few years back) to $60 billion last year. He complimented NASSCOM's efforts in building up the right ecosystem for the growth, and said various bodies should collaborate together in developing the ecosystem,” he added.
