Exchange Headline: Idea about local tourism - guidance required

Exchange Description: This idea is about providing information to visitors of a town/city about the important places, tourist places, business activities, etc. of that town and surrounding places. Though information is available on the Net, not all people are net savvy. My target is this non-net savvy group, providing the above information.
My idea is to create a brochure/booklet with a map of that town, map of the surrounding places, maybe upto 20-30 kms, with worth visiting places mentioned, their distance from the bus stand, railway station. The information will contain the transportation modes to these places, like bus or taxi or autorickshaw, two-wheeler rental, four-wheeler rental service, and their approximate charges. The brochure will also contain information about the places mentioned, history (of temples, forts, and palaces), good time to visit (waterfalls, lakes, dams, and wildlife/bird sanctuary), vegetation, birds and animals (for the bird watchers, photographers). The brochure will contain specialties of that place (like Dharwad peda, Belgaum kunda, Lonavala chikki), business opportunities, agricultural produce of that place. The brochure size may vary depending on the number of places and information it contains.
Lack of proper information is a bane in India. With Internet, this gap has reduced considerably, but what about the non-net savvy people? Almost all towns in India have many places in them, and their surrounding places which are worth visiting, but not known outside the immediate vicinity. Except for very famous tourist places like Agra, Mysore, Hampi, Goa etc., not all places have much information listed. Visitors to these small towns, district HQs, who are on visit for business, personal purpose will be a good target for the information this idea is going to give. Our customers will be the hotels, lodges, local tour operators, taxi/bus/auto/bike-rental, and car-rental services. They will be the sponsors for the information to be presented, and in turn, get advertised for their services.
In addition, there will also be a website with more information and photos (videos can be added). The online version (website) and the hard copy (brochures) will complement each other.
Regarding this idea, I need guidance about:
- how feasible this idea is
- how can this turned into a profitable venture
- any new ideas, changes to the above is welcome
