startup Weekend By Aishwarya Thilak

Inspiration is the one thing that was on everyone’s checklist as they took their seats in the room. I bet, sooner or later, it passed its test. It almost seemed like it went without even asking for it, like men can’t live without breath.

None came there with a crew of their own. Distinguished people with distinguished mindsets, each of them completely varying in thoughts and ideas. Or even, if the ideas happened to be the same, they were thought of from sundry angles.

The first notion that blew my mind was the spirit of teamwork. It’s not a child’s play to get along with someone, share an idea, that has been so dear to you and on which you have been spending hours together buckling  out, and then getting that idea rejected because of the other mate who had a comparatively fitter idea! And all this, in just a tightfisted three hours of acquaintance. Friday evening was when they first met, and by night, they formed groups and also pitched their ideas. Brilliance!

In the majority, we saw teams with amalgamated outlooks, as they emerge from different backgrounds. Engineers, designers, developers, business marketing, every brain that a startup requires made their presence felt. The manner in which they carried themselves out in terms of gelling with the rest of them was staggering!

Generation Y seems to be on a roll when it comes to innovation and modernization of the traditional. Also, what’s really heartwarming is the fact that along with innovation, a couple of them seem to be much moved with the hazards taunting the environment and thereby choose eco-friendly paths. For instance, a team entitled as the Sharewell, looks at building a system that would reduce the unused disposed elements. It focuses on sharing among the people things they don’t want to keep under their possession.

It also comes as a blissful thought to realize that the aspiring startup enthusiasts strike one as being consumer understanding. Another team, characterized as I’m Feeling Lucky, aims at building a website that would cater to the needs of the hungry. The luck hungry, gift hungry, discount and deal hungry people. It’s an online lucky charm that endows people, who have the highest levels of good fortunes, with unexpected goodies and discounts! Sounds like a lucky charm in itself right?

Startup Weekend Bangalore was truly a blessing in disguise for these fairly young fanatics. Without much exaggeration, the most valuable resources one would have wanted to bag away home from the weekend, was definitely advice and guidance from experienced personnel in the same field. They had the best in store to offer, from the varying fields of technology and marketing.

A 3 day event, saturated with information, inspiration and innovation. A must attend for all wizards wanting to make a mark in the field of startups!
