There is no denying the importance of imparting right skills to an individual for the purpose of earning a living and making advancements in the career. It helps employers too as they get valuable human resources to make the organization fit and lean.

The sector offers divers and unique opportunities. Mr. Dheeraj Prasad, MD India, BraveNew Talent, defines new age employees by the name of his company as they are Brave to ask questions to the employers, they provide New ways of building employer branding and they are certainly enjoying their Talent. This is a new era where sharing of ideas and building a connection between employer and employee work.

There is a growing need of developing required skills to people in all kinds of work spheres.  This was interestingly explained by Mr. Rajiv Sharma, MD & co-founder, Empower Pragati with the example of domestic helps. While the domestic help thinks she/he is doing the job perfectly, the owner of the house is often dissatisfied. Same is true with drivers, housekeeping staff, call center staff, IT & ITES employees etc. There is a difference between the expectations from the nature of the job. Right education and skill development helps to bridge this gap.

Another important aspect of right training is that it brings dignity and respect for the job. More often than not people fail to attach these important aspects with vocational jobs. Their main criterion becomes the reduction of the cost. Employing a trained person, which at first looks costly, not only brings the required expertise to the job but also reduces the loss an untrained person would have made.

The problems arise when there is no regulatory body to look the kind of training that is taking place and what are its benefits. Mr. Satya Narayanan R., Founder & Chairman, CL Educate, thinks India has liberalized its economy by default and thus helped many unorganized and unregulated sectors to reap the benefits, which should needs to be controlled.

While importance and scope of training and skill development is rising day by day, the perfect business model has to be there to sustain the idea.  The key challenges are to make delivery system self paced and giving importance to strategical decision.
