NS Raghavan, one of the founders of Infy and now an investor and a mentor to the entrepreneurial community brought a much needed message of what a promoter shoud have essentially be aware of.
His list of  4 ways in which we are conditioned in life include:
Â
- The pleasure we derive from a product depends less on the product itself but more on the expectations from it.
- Self control is vital for an entrepreneur. One way to cultivate self control is to constantly practice it. Even thinking about someone who in our eyes is highly self controlled invokes in our own sub-conscious mind similar feelings.
- Kindness and cooperative behaviour is also contagious. The more we interact with people who have these characteristics the more we embrace them.
- We tend to dismiss or ignore any information that challenges our beliefs.
Another incident he narrated from his early life gave an insight into how one has to view conformance. Conformance to rules could easily also fall into submission to power centers. And if these power centers happen to be lobbies working against the larger good, the value of conformance is negated.
